The solution that S&S are offering is stronger belts, they have teamed up with the Gates® Corporation, a leading manufacturer of power transmission belts, to offer a series of secondary drive belts for many popular v-twin models. These belts feature Gates’ super strong X3N carbon cord material which is significantly stronger than the Aramid material used in many OEM final drive belts

Belt tension setting tools & alignment equipment are available. Remember to do belt tension check and adjustment after 50 or so miles, along with 250 & 500 & 1000 miles, along with your models maintainance schedule. It is always best to understand why it needed replacement in the first place ....as the life of the belt will be shortened, if there is an ongoing problem for example... if you have a worn or damaged front or rear pulley, or a misalignment between them. Check your Lower Belt guards actually do prevent stones from entering between pulley & belt and punching through, and that the correction tension is applied.

Worn out pulleys not replaced at time of belt replacement. Oil leaks that cause oil to penetrate belt, chemical reaction to rubber.
Air suspensions that cause improper belt tension/alignment, raising or lowering the bike by air or broken shocks. Failure to properly readjust new belt as it seats into pulleys at 500 and 1000 miles, and at regular services. Road debris, rocks, metal, glass, tire tread or retread pieces, etc. Failure to properly readjust belt on bikes overloaded for long trips.
